After years of talking about it with my closest of college buddies, I am finally on my way to check out Austin, Texas! I’ll be landing next week on the 26th and will be staying for several days.
On this trip, I hope to see much of the city’s culture and attractions and hopefully get a perspective on what it’s like to explore a real big city.
One of the main ventures will be on 6th street to see the nightlife and live music that Austin has to offer. (And hopefully the holidays won’t put a damper on that like it does here in Orlando.) You’d best believe that Arcade UFO will be a stop. And of course, I’ll be be hitting up The Salt Lick for their famed barbecue.
Now, I don’t know too much about the city besides all that so it should be a good learning experience. However, if you have some stops to recommend, I’ll make it a point to check it out. And I’ll certainly do my part to keep Austin weird.

As far as best barbecue in Austin,. It is a toss-up between the Salt Lick (witch is really just outside Austin proper) and Franklin Barbecue(though it is damn near impossible to get in there, as they only make one batch and when it is sold out that is it for the day). Personally if ya can actually get in I think Franklin is the better BBQ. As for night life, check out the Parish over on 6th st. I have always heard good thing about that place, and of course Stubbs-BBQ has been a mainstay of smaller local acts in Texas for like ever. Also check out some of the blues clubs there the city really has a lot to offer. Enjoy your stay.
